![]() ![]() : 288 During the 1970s, although the Mustang continued in production, its performance and image had suffered greatly diminished power output and Ford's inability to come up with an attractive body style in the post-fastback era were major issues.įord began to make a major push forward with the newly introduced Fox platform Mustang in 1979 by 1982, Ford had nearly completely reinvented every aspect of the vehicle, which included putting a new emphasis on the model's sporty nature. ![]() In 1970, Henry Ford II withdrew all manufacturer support for racing programs. Many of the vehicles of the muscle car era had been either completely discontinued or had been detuned to help keep them in compliance with new federal emissions regulations and the rising demand for better fuel economy. As a result, the "big three" automakers (Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler Corporation), for whom muscle cars had been a steady and reliable source of income, began to suffer financially. Next problem is trying to find and check all the fusible links, schematics do not show actual location in the car.The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966, establishing the NHTSA and federal motor vehicle safety standards National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, which paved the way for the EPA and emissions controls and the 19 oil crises all dealt significant blows to demand for American muscle cars, which went extinct from rising fuel and insurance costs and more strict safety and emissions controls imposed worldwide. After gronding the regulator to the inner fender panel, it seems the light came on when restarted. When I plugged it in the harness connector and started engine without regulator being grounded the charging light was out. He gave me 3 new aftermarket regulators from 3 different manufactures, I had installed one of them. ![]() Could the NOTE on the 2 schematics be reversed? My friend who sells hundreds of regulators checked in his books and it only lists one voltage regulater. seems something is wrong here, bacause as I said SVO does not use amp meter. In rechecking the schematics you sent I noticed the one showing the amp meter says NOTE SVO. The place in the instrument cluster where the amp meter would normally go, is occupied by a turbo boost gage in the SVO. Only the SVO uses a charge indicator instead of a amp meter. There were only about 3000 Mustang SVO's made that year as compared with probably 100,000 standard Mustangs. ![]() Also in the the Electrical & Vacuum Trouble Shooting Manual. I have most of the schematics and information you sent in the 86 Ford shop manual. Hello Again, Thanks for your prompt reply. ![]()
